I recently stayed at Kyoto Umekoji Kandensho. This stunning resort hotel, with public and private natural hot spring baths, is a work of art with attention to every detail. Check in your shoes before stepping onto the tatami mats, put on a yukata, and fade into bliss. The sake lounge looked like a scene out of a movie.
